A: It’s really up to you. As this is an entirely voluntary position, you are responsible for the time you put in towards creating a community of like-minded individuals. However, on average, a local leader spends between 20 and 30 hours a month building their community and preparing for events and initiatives.
A: We highly encourage each Local Chapter leader to form a team of 2 or 3 people to ensure smooth running of all initiatives.
A: Some Local Chapters do establish organisations to keep finances in order or to apply for certain types of funding.
A: All Local Chapters usually cover their events and/or initiatives costs primarily through local sponsors. There are no application fees, upfront fees or any ongoing fees to headquarters which also means that all local sponsorship money or donations will stay with the Local Chapter.
A: The answer is simple, no. We want to make sure we have a thriving community in each city we are present in. That’s why we only want one Local Chapter per city.
A: You’re more than welcome to apply. However, as part of the application process we will work together on assessing the potential of that community to thrive.
A: Each of our Local Chapter receives our GRASP branded assets (PowerPoint slides, logos, brand guidelines, sample marketing materials), a welcome pack including guidelines and learnings from our Local Chapter leaders, and access to our internal communications channels.
A: There isn’t a time limit. If you feel you can’t put in the time or resources needed to keep the community thriving then we will work with you on finding a suitable replacement.

Q: Is applying for hosting a Local Chapter first come first serve?
A: Not always. In order for someone to be successful we need to make sure they tick all the boxes. For this reason, we encourage you to send in your application as soon as possible. If we find a Local Chapter leader we really like, we’ll allow them to start a GRASP chapter.
